About the GRA
This project will start September 30th and run through November 8th. The idea behind it is very simple. Teachers around the world read the same book aloud to their students and then use technology to share the reading experience with these other classrooms.
During the project, students will be listening to different books (each grade will cover a different book during their assigned week) and connecting with students around the world who are reading the same book. We will be using technology tools, as well as traditional post cards, to facilitate these connections and conversations.
We are very excited to connect with others, especially since more than 400,000 students are already signed up to participate. This project will allow our students to learn about other cultures while listening to a fantastic read aloud!
I look forward to starting this exciting project with our students here at STA, as well as seeing the connections we will make!
STA Students and the Global Read Aloud
All St. Thomas the Apostle students (grades K-5) will be participating in the Global Read Aloud this year through a Post Card Exchange! Our students will be working collaboratively to send post cards to students who have also read either one of the picture books by Yuyi Morales or Stella Diaz Has Something to Say by Angela Dominguez! Our post cards will be sent to participating classrooms all around the United States and will even go as far as Canada and Saudi Arabia!
